To effectively combat Technology-Facilitated Gender-Based Violence (TFGBV) in
Jordan and support survivors, a multi-pronged approach involving legal,
institutional, community-based, and technological interventions is essential. The
following recommendations are drawn from the literature review and research
findings:
1. Strengthening the Legal Framework
• Amendments
to cybercrime and data
protection laws: Update existing laws to include
explicit provisions addressing TFGBV forms such
as “doxxing”, “sextortion”, and online stalking.
Ensure clear definitions to eliminate misuse of
broad legal terms.
• Victim-Centered enforcement: Train judicial
and law enforcement personnel to adopt victimsensitive approaches, prioritizing survivor safety
and confidentiality.
• Increased accountability: Hold perpetrators
accountable through transparent investigation
and prosecution processes, emphasizing the
importance of privacy and fair treatment during
trials.
• Inclusion of marginalized groups: Ensure that
legal protections encompass the needs of
undocumented women, gender and sexual
minorities, and individuals with disabilities who
are often excluded from existing policies.
