Another post (Figure 23) used a clip from an Egyptian film, digitally inserting the faces of a party leader
and a women candidate into the scene to mock the candidate's election. 51
Figure 23: Edited video using film footage and face insertion to mock a woman candidate’s election conference
A digitally enhanced image depicted a political leader walking several dogs on leashes (Figure 24). 52
The faces of political figures, including a woman candidate, are edited onto the bodies of the dogs,
while a senior male political figure is shown holding the leashes and controlling them. By portraying
candidates as animals under male control, the image stripped them of human agency and dignity,
reinforcing gendered stereotypes portraying women in politics as controlled, dependent, and lacking
autonomy. This constitutes dehumanising hate speech and gendered disinformation, using
manipulated visuals to delegitimise candidates and portray them as subservient.
